Experienced Montana attorney and Senior Law Clerk with a decade of service inside Montana’s Judicial Branch. Running as a write-in candidate to bring a firm, fair, and family-focused approach to public safety and county leadership. Deeply committed to aggressively prosecuting violent crime, domestic abuse, and crimes against children, while offering sound, fiscally responsible legal advice to our local County Commissioners and County Boards.
why i want to be county attorney
Over nearly a decade within the Montana judicial branch, I have developed extensive, hands-on experience across the entire spectrum of the law. I have conducted deep legal research and drafted opinions, briefs, and orders for virtually every type of case that comes before the District Court—including complex criminal matters, domestic relation cases, parenting plans, property and land disputes, and personal injury claims. Additionally, I have completed nine jury trials in City Court and navigated complex issues in criminal procedure, search and seizure, and traffic safety. My philosophy is simple: when I encounter a novel legal question, I research it relentlessly. If the answer isn't immediately visible, I leverage the strong professional network of judges, clerks, and attorneys I have built across Montana to find the right resolution.
I am running for Musselshell and Golden Valley County Attorney because I love practicing in rural Montana. I value the unique character of our communities—places that are close enough to a major hub to access vital resources, yet far enough away to escape the heavy crime and reactive law enforcement struggles that plague bigger cities.
As your County Attorney, my priority will be ensuring our justice system operates effectively through robust cooperation and unwavering support for law enforcement. A functional system relies on checks and balances and clear boundaries of discretion: law enforcement is independent in their investigations, and the prosecutor holds the discretion on how to proceed. For this relationship to work, we must support our officers with the training, equipment, and resources they need to remain efficient. Without that vital follow-through, we risk damaging law enforcement morale and diminishing the impact of their hard work.
I believe in a holistic approach to justice. No two cases are identical, and an effective prosecution requires balancing prosecutorial discretion with meaningful input from the victims and the investigating officers. By ensuring every piece of the system works in harmony, we can deliver real accountability, keep our communities safe, and protect the values that make rural Montana home.
